Bonfire spreads to roof of building in High Street, Broadstairs

Firefighters were called after a bonfire spread to the roof of a town centre takeaway shop.
Two engines were sent to the commercial building in High Street, Broadstairs, after the blaze ignited the roof space of the building.
Crews were called to the scene at about 7pm and spent 45 minutes tackling the flames.
No injuries were reported.
Following the incident, firefighters are reminding people to position bonfires well away from any property or greenery and to make sure they are built to a manageable size.
A spokesperson added: “Bonfires should be attended at at all times, and remember to check it’s fully out before you leave it.”
