A yellow weather warning for strong winds and heavy rain forced organisers to call off the entertainment this evening in Victoria Gardens.
A children's fun fair was due to start at 7.30pm with local pop rock band Helluvaday performing on the bandstand before the fireworks at 9.45pm.
Broadstairs Fireworks organiser Simon Abra said: "We regrettably made the decision not to ahead this morning due to the weather warning.
"With the band playing on the main stage, electrical equipment and water is not a good mix and the evening seemed fraught with too many danger signals.
"We are sorry to disappoint everybody and we are disappointed as well, but with the interest of safety and putting on a good show we are looking to reschedule towards the end of September.
"Because the children will be back at school in September we are looking at a weekend date so families can attend without worrying about children going to school the next day."
