Broadstairs: Dozens take part in New Year's Day dip, organised by landlady Jill Connell

09:47, 02 January 2018

It was a brrrrrrrisk start to 2018 for a group of intrepid swimmers in Broadstairs.

Dozens of brave participants for a New Year’s Day dip gathered at the Neptune Hall pub in Harbour Street before walking down to the beach and taking a plunge into the chilly water.

The organiser of the dip, Neptune Hall landlady Jill Connell, wasn’t among those taking part but she provided very welcome hot food for those emerging from the waves.
