Seafood, sea life and sea art will be among this year's attractions around Thanet's shoreline during Kent Coastal Week.

The programme of events runs from this Saturday until the following Sunday and this weekend, Thanet Coast Project stages a two-day celebration of responsibly-caught sea food and diversity of sea life at Ramsgate Royal Harbour.

The event will include a variety of wildlife, maritime and fisheries exhibits, as well as wet-fish stalls, a local food market, sea shanties, music, children's art workshops and storytelling walks in the area next to the next to Ramsgate Pier Yard car park and the needle beside the harbour.

At the same time, SeaART2009 will run until Thursday, November 12, with local art and photographic exhibitions by artists inspired by the coast. Exhibitions can be viewed at the Belgian Café, 4c York Street, Ramsgate Visitor Centre and at the Westcliff Boating Pool Gallery.

SeaART sessions include a herring workshop, where you can create your own herring on a stick, BeachART and EnergyART, the Rocky Shore Discovery Tour and storytelling walks led by Scandalmongers.

The Rock Doc will take people to explore the world of rocks next Wednesday at Dumpton Gap. In addition, Horizon Sea Safaris will be running excursions from Ramsgate Royal Harbour during Kent Coastal Week at a reduced rate of £7 for an hour's trip, with two different excursions available (book through 07931 744788).

The week will finish with the Big Draw, featuring a storytelling theme of 'fishy followings' and led by Scandalmongers. The Big Draw takes place on Sunday, November 1, at Viking Bay from 11am. Meet at Broadstairs Harbour, directly opposite the Tartar Frigate.
