A teenager has been arrested after a car smashed into seven parked vehicles in a residential street in Cliftonville.
Police officers on patrol had signalled for an uninsured car to stop shortly before the crash.
The force says it failed to stop and collided with a number of parked cars in Norfolk Road, off Eastern Esplanade.
It is understood seven vehicles were damaged in the collision - as well as the suspect's.
A police spokesman said: "An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and drink driving.
"He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue."
The incident happened at about 3am on Monday.
It is understood no serious injuries were reported and the car was not being pursued at the time of the crash.
