Child cyclist taken to hospital after van crash in Broadstairs Road near Dane Court Grammar School

A child cyclist has been taken to hospital after being involved in a crash with a van near a school during rush hour.
The incident took place at about 8.11am today and saw the youngster injured on Broadstairs Road, near the junction with Fairfield Road and Dane Court Grammar School in Broadstairs.
Paramedics and police attended the scene where the child received treatment before being taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for further examination.
There were reports of congestion in the area at the time, however, the road has since cleared and traffic returned to normal.
A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 8.11am on September 11 to a report of a collision involving a van and a boy on a pushbike on Broadstairs Road, near to the junction with Fairfield Road, Broadstairs.
“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the boy was treated by paramedics.”
A spokesperson for the ambulance service added: “Crews assessed and treated one person at the scene before taking them to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for further medical treatment”.
