A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Millmead Avenue, Margate, near the Hungry Horse pub, just before 5pm yesterday.

All traffic was halted while emergency crews dealt with the incident.

Passengers were reportedly told to get off a bus caught in the gridlock.

Paramedics took the child to the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate as a precaution.
