The coastguard, RNLI and police were scrambled to Broadstairs in the early hours of this morning after a woman was reported missing.
A dramatic search took place for more than an hour after a person was seen around the water area at 1.54am.
Police were contacted at 11.45pm yesterday and HM Coastguard Margate were tasked by the coastguard to assist officers.
Two RNLI Ramsgate boats were launched at 2.30am.
An illuminating white parachute flare was fired by one of the lifeboats - but nothing was seen.
But about an hour and a half into the search, the person was found by the coastguard.
They were reportedly "extremely cold - but OK". The woman was then taken to hospital.
