We were lucky to have Ramsgate teenager Sam Eastwell in to join us on the air - lucky in two ways, really. Lucky that he had chosen to come in and talk about his favourite records as he joined kmfm breakfast presenter Johnny Lewis for part of his show, and lucky that Sam has overcome his horrific injuries after the senseless attack a few weeks ago that left him fighting for his life.
Our thoughts and those of Thanet and beyond go out to him and his family and we wish him a good recovery. We also thank everyone who has contacted the radio station with offers of help - these have been passed on to the Eastwell family who are overwhelmed by your generosity.
We had some amazing late summer weather for the recent international kite festival at Margate - hundreds of colourful kites taking to the skies made an awesome sight on the main sands, and a big well done goes to the organisers this year - particularly for organising the super sunshine! My last attempt at kite flying was a disaster - I was inspired to go and fly my own and so I bought one for just over £10 and took it to the beach. Could I get it to fly? Simple answer was no.
I must say hello to Spud Gun and Vulcan - they asked for a mention this week, and as keen listeners to my show I thought I would include them - I wonder if they notice.
I was really pleased to see such a great turn out at the surf event at Joss Bay where autistic children were encouraged to enjoy the sport. Again we were blessed with some fantastic weather - if only we’d seen some of it during the summer.
Finally a little sad news as we say goodbye to two of Thanet's museums - from October the Ramsgate Maritime Museum and Margate Old Town Museum will close. Despite the petitions, the doors will close and we’ll lose a little bit of Thanet in the process.
There’s never a dull moment in Thanet, that’s for sure.
Until next week, keep well and keep listening.
