Thanet council has responded to fears that the street art in memory of a teenager killed on a rail line has or will be painted over.
The council has confirmed that the tribute to Taiyah-Grace Peebles in Margate has not been painted over and there are no plans to.
A TDC spokesman said: "The memorial mural has not been painted over.
"This mural was painted with permission.
"We are always happy for art works to be displayed with prior consent from the land owners to ensure they are not offensive or such like.
"The side walls have been painted over as they were ‘tags’.
"The council does not, however have any plans to paint over the memorial mural."
The stunning street art piece went up over the weekend on the front of a building in Margate that has previously been used by street artists.
There has been a huge outpouring of grief since the 16-year-old Herne Bay girl died on the track at the town's railway station last week.
Taiyah-Grace Peebles is believed to have been electrocuted.
Flowers, cards and posters have been left at the scene and now the mural has taken the emotional reaction to a new level.
It was created by local artist Vince Pugh and the inscription reads: "In memory of Taiyah Peebles. Taken too young. 2001-2017. Rest in Peace."
The wall at a former parade of shops near the main beach has been established for some time as an area for artists to express themselves.
