A dad-to-be fears he could miss the birth of his first child after “scumbag” thieves stole his only mode of transport.

Blake Calder’s partner is expecting a baby girl on October 14, so he forked out for a motorbike to make sure he could rush to her side should she go into labour while he’s at work in Broadstairs.

But the 25-year-old was left fuming this week after his black Lexmoto was swiped in an early-morning theft captured on CCTV.

Three suspects were seen making off with the bike - which was parked on a driveway in Minster Road, Westgate - at about 2.15am on Monday.

Sharing the footage on Facebook, Mr Calder wrote: "You better hope my partner doesn't go into labour because if I miss my baby girl being born you will soon know about it."

Speaking to KentOnline, he added: "It's my only way of getting around and I’ve spent everything I have spare getting it running and ready to go for when my partner needs me. It's my only mode of transport.

“I’m not going to use the words I’m currently feeling towards them.”

CCTV footage shows three people - thought to be teenagers - fleeing with the bike after one was filmed scoping the area 15 minutes before.

Mr Calder says two of the thieves snapped the steering lock off the vehicle, which he had owned for only two months.

He says he is now having to rely on others to get to and from work at the Vue cinema in Westwood Cross, Broadstairs.

He is concerned he will be delayed reaching the QEQM Hospital should his partner enter labour, and is anxious to be there when his daughter arrives.

"I’m fuming. I've spent so much money and time getting it ready to use and now this," he said.

"This happened for no reason other than three kids thinking they're cool and can do what they want.”

Two of the three thieves were wearing grey tracksuits, while the other had on a hooded top and jeans.

Mr Calder says he has reported the theft to police online, but the force does not yet have any further details to release.
