Date set for trial of Kent inmate over attempted murder of prison officer at HMP Whitemoor in terror attack

The trial of two men charged with attempting to murder a prison guard at a maximum security jail has been set for September 14.
Baz Macaulay Hockton, 24, formerly of Wellington Crescent, Ramsgate, is alleged to have teamed up with a fellow inmate and donned a fake suicide vest during the January 9 ambush.
He has been serving time since 2016 and was residing at 400-inmate HMP Whitemoor when the attack happened.
Together with 24-year-old Londoner Brusthom Ziamani, Hockton is alleged to have set upon officer Neil Trundle who sustained stab and slash wounds to his head, chest and face.
They were charged on March 3 with attempted murder.
A preliminary hearing was held at the Old Bailey today and both are remanded ahead of their trial.
Ziamani was also charged with ABH and common assault.
