A dog has died after getting into trouble in the sea - despite best efforts to rescue it.
An RNLI lifeboat launched at the request of the Coastguard at about 9.55am after a member of the public reported a dog in the water at Dumpton Gap.
Once the boat had arrived, the person had already managed to get the pooch ashore.
Unfortunately, the dog did not survive, and the lifeboat returned to the station.
