Repairs to Dreamland's iconic Scenic Railway are underway after the ride was closed for months during peak season.

The Grade II* listed rollercoaster was closed in July with the park's then CEO, Eddie Kemsley, claiming essential repair work was required and the lift rope needed replacing.

Over four months later the park's centrepiece has finally received a bespoke part which will be installed by engineers tomorrow.

It comes as the ride underwent months of testing after a rope was made by contractors but it failed to make the grade disappointing scores of revellers keen to enjoy the key attraction.

But thrill seekers could be back riding the rollercoaster at the park's Frosted Fairground which also has Father Christmas and a new Waltzer ride.

A spokesman for Dreamland confirmed: "The bespoke rope for the Scenic Railway was delivered to Dreamland today,with the splicing engineering crew arriving this afternoon.

"Once all prepared, we anticipate that the operation of replacing the rope will commence tomorrow. After the rope has been safely installed, it will be tested thoroughly over the course of a number of days to ensure maximum safety.

"Once testing is complete we look forward to announcing the ride’s opening date. We will continue to add information about the ride’s progress, to the home page of our website www.dreamland.co.uk."
