A driver fled the scene of a crash following a police chase.

Officers were called to a two car smash at about 1.45am in Cliff Street, Ramsgate.

Prior to the collision one of the vehicles had come to the police's attention and there was a short pursuit.

A police spokesman said: "One of the drivers was reported to have left the scene of the collision on foot and an area search was carried out however the driver was not located.

"No injuries were reported. Enquiries are ongoing."
