An elderly driver was shocked and confused but escaped appearing relatively unhurt after a dramatic incident in which his car ended up on its roof.
Two members of the KM Group’s Thanet advertising team went to try and help the man after his car hit a parked vehicle in Shottendane Road, Margate, at 3.40pm today.
Nearly three hours later the road remained closed.
One of the KM Group team said: “It happened just a couple of cars in front of us. Two men went to help the elderly driver who said he was from Whitstable. We went to see if we could help.
“He was very shocked and confused and worried about his disabled badge. I think he was very lucky because the roof of his car looked like it was all caved in. He could have been very badly hurt but only appeared to have had a cut on his hand, with no other obvious injuries.”
Her colleague put her coat around the man and telephoned and left a message on the voicemail of his daughter’s phone.
A police spokesman said they had been called to a report of a blue Ford Fiesta in collision with a parked blue Mazda on Shottendane Road.
The Fiesta had flipped onto its roof. The driver had reported minor injuries.
