A farm park had thousands of pounds worth of equipment stolen in a burglary overnight.

Quex Adventure Farm Park and Activity Centre, in Birchington, has had more than £6,000 worth of damage and goods stolen after a break-in.

A spokesman for the tourist attraction in Thanet said: “We have had cash, IT equipment, camera equipment and tools taken.

“There is lots of damage to doors, windows, tills, security systems and office furniture.

“In the cost of living crisis, we have held our prices low to make fun and educational family outdoor fun available to as many people as possible but this break-in puts a strain on a business just trying to do its bit for the community of Thanet.

“Winter and Spring are always quieter for us and with a break in two years in a row, it is both heartbreaking and demoralising for the small and committed team.

“We should have been arriving for a fantastic end to a great bank holiday weekend but instead have to contend with mindless and selfish vandalism.”

Although the farm is still open today it had a delayed start this morning while staff waited for the police and forensics.

The spokesman continued: “The missing IT equipment has delayed our office team and we have had to redeploy our maintenance team to deal with the damage rather than continue making improvements to the park and our attractions.

“We believe our nighttime visitors came from Park Lane if anyone heard or saw anything last night.”

Quex Adventure Farm Park urges anyone who knows or saw anything to call police on 111 quoting the crime reference number, CAD 01-0251.
