Artists are being called to submit proposals inspired by Tina Turner to create a brand new piece of art for the public at Dreamland.

The theme park is launching the Tiina Turner Prize to coincide with the arrival of the Turner Prize in Margate next month.

The winning entry will be transferred to Dreamland's Mural By The Sea billboard which overlooks the park and is on display to the 600,000 visitors.

Dreamland says the work should reflect both Margate's thriving creative community and take inspiration from the legendary singer.

The park has recently unveiled a unique piece of fan art - a seven-metre inflatable sculpture of Tina Turner's head which incorporates a karaoke booth inside.

The prize - a £2,000 art commission - aims to serve as an alternative attraction for the town complementing the other art on offer during the Turner Prize exhibition which opens at the Turner Contemporary gallery on September 28.

Proposals are open until August 26 with a shortlist due to go out to a public vote and the winning artwork will go on display the day the Turner Prize show starts.
