Five arrested in Birchington after hammer attack

Five people have been arrested after a person was hit over the head with a hammer.
British Transport Police made the arrests at Birchington, and the hammer as well as a knife were seized.
The force posted about the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying: “A busy couple of days for officers in Kent, having made several arrests and attended a large variety of incidents ranging from drunk & disorderly persons to trespassers, assaults and GBH.
“The GBH occurred at Birchington whereby a person was hit over the head with a hammer. Fortunately he did not sustain serious injuries. A hammer and knife was seized from the scene and five arrests were made with the assistance of Kent Police Thanet.”
All five were interviewed and bailed while further enquiries are carried out.
British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
