Four people, including two from Thanet, are due before magistrates in Medway today, charged with conspiracy to bring drugs into a Kent prison.
The Serious and Organised Crime Unit at Kent Police made the arrests yesterday, following a joint operation with security staff at HMP Elmley, Isle of Sheppey.
Officers also searched properties in Grange Road, Ramsgate, and Canterbury Road, Westgate-on-Sea.
Unemployed Dino Lewis Gillet, 37, of Canterbury Road, Westgate-on-Sea, was remanded in custody before today’s hearing. His wife, unemployed Sahra Naomi Gillet, 35, of the same address, was bailed before her appearance.
Darren Paul Byrne, 29, a prisoner serving at HMP Elmley, Isle of Sheppey, will also appear, alongside Carly Joanne Morris, 24, from Dover, who was bailed until today.
All four face a second charge of bringing banned items into HMP Elmley.
