A fundraising page has been set up to help raise money for the family of Mark Miles who died in Margate.
The 44-year-old father was found in a flat in Sandhurst Place early on Saturday and a 23-year-old has been charged on suspicion of murder.
An appeal has now been set up by a friend asking people to help the family cover the funeral costs.
Tributes have poured in on social media to Mr Miles who has been described as a lovely man.
One posted: "You were one of the best, if not the best.
"It was a pleasure knowing you and your family helped me in the past. Will see you on the other side."
Mr Miles was also described as a "sound friend" and "all round good man".
Richard McAuley, 23, of Northdown Road, Cliftonville, has been charged with murder.
He has also been charged with assaulting a woman during the incident. She was not seriously injured.
Mr McAuley will appear before Medway magistrates today.
Police were initially called to reports a man had been seriously injured with a broken bottle.
Mr Miles was pronounced dead at the scene.
