A fundraiser has been set up after a cyclist was hit by a coach, suffering severe injuries.

Sam Stokes, 22, was taken to hospital in London after a crash involving a coach yesterday evening in Broadstairs.

Friend Lucinda Rose is hoping to raise money to help his mum with travelling costs to visit her son.

Miss Rose said: "I'm hoping to raise some money to help his mum as she does not drive.

"She's going there alone and he's going to be there for a while.

"We have known Sam for a long time and wanted to help his mum in any way we could so we have decided to set up a fund page for anybody who would like to help out.

"It will all help for her travelling costs as she doesn’t drive and maybe something to help her along the way with expenses while in London with Sam.

"I've told her (Sam's mum) about the page and she is is overwhelmed."

Mr Stokes has a cracked skull, punctured lung and a bleed on the brain, Miss Rose says.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, police say.
