Naj Turkish restaurant to open in former JC Rook & Sons butchers, in Broadstairs High Street

The future of a vacant property – which was once occupied by one of the county's biggest butchery firms – has been revealed.
A new Turkish restaurant will be opening in the vacant JC Rook & Sons unit in Broadstairs High Street.
Rumours have been rife over what the shop would become after the butchers closed in 2022 when the firm went into administration.
Staff and customers were heartbroken at the time and it was a huge blow to both the industry and our high streets.
When the news broke, Broadstairs' manager Dean said: "I am absolutely heartbroken at this time in writing this, not just for myself but my fantastic team I had working for me and also for the town of Broadstairs.
"In the nearly five years I have been back at the shop, we as a team have turned it around and moved it forward. Thank you, everyone, for your support over the years, you have been fantastic."
The unit was being listed with estate agents Miles and Barr Commercial who had branded the sale as an “extremely rare and exciting opportunity”.
The let had been agreed upon last year, however, it was not known who had snapped it up and what the future plans were for the corner unit.
This was until a premises licence application was submitted to Thanet District Council for Naj Turkish Restaurant.

Owner Nagmalden Jakerka is requesting to extend the opening hours from 10am to 11pm daily and allow the sale of alcohol during these times.
Any representations on the application should be made to the local authority by February 22.
