A knitted nativity scene, Father Christmas and hopefully some miniature donkeys will be among the highlights of the Pilgrims Hospice Thanet Christmas Fair this Saturday (November 26).

The fundraising event is being held at the Ramsgate Road hospice between 11am and 3pm.

The fair will be opened by kmfm's Johnny Lewis (pictured) and will include a bumper raffle with prizes including a mountain bike, a M&S Hamper and a rocking horse, and many more.

Fundraising Manager Karen Kenward said the charity has been 'overwhelmed' at the number of donations from the public, local shops and businesses.

"We're delighted with the response from local people in Thanet, they are so supportive, and it's really commendable.

"We have a wide range of amazing prizes on offer for our raffle which will add to the excitement of the fair.

"We've also got some lovely knitted items made by one of our lovely volunteers, Elsie, who helps us out every year.

"I look forward to seeing what she has made every year.

"She truly is an amazing and creative lady; I cannot thank her enough for her efforts."

Other stalls will include Christmas gifts, books, cakes, jams, pickles, toys, and Pilgrim's Hospice merchandise including 2012 calendars.

Father Christmas will be joined by his elf helper Cerys and it's hoped some miniature donkeys will be there too.

Pilgrims Hospices rely on the local community to help raise more than £9 million a year to support local people with life-limiting illnesses.
