A boy and two girls are in custody after a cash machine was smashed up in Broadstairs.

Police were called at about 1am today to the report that the machine was being vandalised outside a supermarket in Hopeville Avenue.

The cash point was damaged and the screen was smashed, but nothing was reported stolen.

Officers attended the area and reviewed CCTV.

A 14-year-old boy and two girls aged 12 and 13 from Margate were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage just before 6am in the Dane Park area.

All three remain in custody while enquiries are ongoing.
