Holidaymakers are now able to take their horses away with them, thanks to a new glamping site

A retrospective application by Quex Park Estate in Birchington for four tipis on the site is set to be given the green light by councillors next week.

The site is already up and running - with tipis including an eco-bathroom, off-road parking, an eating area and firepit.

A spokesman for Quex Livery Glamping Holidays said: "This scheme provides a high-end glamping facility, which offers the unique opportunity for clients to bring their horses with them.

"The proposal is purely for those bringing their horses with them.

"Unlike most glamping/camp sites we provide individual bathroom and kitchen facilities.

"Our site runs on solar energy. Wherever possible we have upcycled and recycled materials for our facilities.

"We are located within a private family estate of 250 acres, offering 2.8 miles of grass gallops skirting the perimeter of the estate."

The site is in operation from May until September (3509239)

Although the site is open for business, plans are only now coming before councillors.

A planning report recommends approval of the change of use.

Case officer Gill Richardson said: "It is considered that the proposed development would have minimal impact on the landscape character of the site and on the character or appearance of the wider countryside given the relatively modest number of tipis.

"Moreover, no adverse issues have been identified with regard to its impact on the nearest residential properties or on highway safety subject to the imposition of conditions."
