Two new industrial units will be built at the former home of a business based in Thanet for 50 years.
The buildings on the Pyson Road Industrial Estate in Broadstairs were given permission by council planners last week.
It follows the departure of Instro Precision, which left the site earlier this year and moved to Discovery Park in Sandwich to new purpose built facilities.
A planning application was submitted to Thanet District Council on April 9 to add two new units alongside the former Instro factory.
The company, which makes precision engineered surveillance, vehicle sensors and military observation equipment, says the move came after outgrowing its Broadstairs base.
The land is owned by Thanet company MPG Properties which says it is looking to make use of the "under-utilised grounds" on the site.
A design statement prepared by planning consultant Tony Michael said the units will "contribute to the vitality" of the space on the estate.
He added: "The proposed units respect the layout and scale of the existing row of buildings and the immediate locale.
"The design of the units would respect the existing style, rhythm, massing and use of materials."
