Scrap the pills and only focus on the thrills as Happy Mondays get set to play at Dreamland this summer.

The indie-rock band will be tearing up the park’s Scenic Stage on Saturday, July 13.

Fans are encouraged to don their best nineties style outfits at this one-off performance as they jam to favourites such as 24 Hour Party People, Wrote For Luck, Step On and Kinky Afro.

During the late eighties and early nineties, the Salford group peaked in success, with their 1990 album Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches going platinum in the UK, selling more than 350,000 copies.

Having disbanded in 1993, the group has reformed several times since.

The line-up now features Shaun Ryder on vocals, Mark Day on guitar, bassist Paul Ryder, Gary Whelan on drums, singer Rowetta, musical director Dan Broad on keyboard and dancer/percussionist Mark Berry (Bez).

Promoters say: "After a successful UK tour in 2017 and 2018, the beloved band will be heading to Margate to take the outdoor stage by storm.

"With their inimitable mix of funk, rave and psychedelia, the band has evolved substantially over its 40 year career, and continues to thrill fans all over the world as one of the most iconic acts to emerge from famous Manchester music scene of the 1980s and 1990s."

The gig is open to those aged 16 and above, although those younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are £20 each, plus a booking fee, which includes park entry and access to rides.
