Visitors to the beach have been left amazed by a sand sculpture of a dragon.

The artwork appeared at the Westbrook Bay beach near Margate yesterday.

Beachgoers were in awe at the detail on the design from its spines to the scales and wings - which is believed to have taken about six hours to finish.

It is understood the artist is a Hungarian man from Budapest, known as Gaza, and since completing the dragon has moved on from Thanet.

Comments on social media jokingly compared the artwork to the Loch Ness Monster.

Others shared their wonder at the sculpture calling the piece "very clever".

Jill Howes wrote: "Best let sleeping dragons lie. One puff and they're gone."

Adam Chapman added: "That's one mega sand castle you need for that."
