A knife-carrying shoplifter who stole a vanity unit from Poundstretcher has been jailed.
Grant Davies, of Northdown Road, Cliftonville, stole the £40 bathroom fixture from the bargain chain's Margate store.
When arrested, the 44-year-old was found to be carrying a folding Stanley knife with a locking blade.
He denied charges of theft and carrying a knife in public, but was convicted by Thanet magistrates in his absence.
He has been jailed for six months for the knife offence and 120 days for shoplifting, with the sentences to run alongside each other.
He must also repay the cost of the unit to Poundstretcher.
