A Kent village was named as the joint sunniest during yesterday's balmy day.
The Met Office has confirmed that Manston ranked alongside Wattisham to be named the UK spots with the most sun.
Both saw 12.1 hours of sunlight on what has been confirmed to be one of the hottest days on record.
The national weather organisation said: "Today we recorded the highest UK temperature in #August since 2003.
"It also falls within the top 10 hottest days ever recorded here in the UK #heatwave"
In Manston, temperatures didn't fall below 24 degrees from 9am to midnight and a high of 32°C remained with residents from 2pm to 5pm.
Today the Thanet village is expected to have a slightly cooler day, but repeats of yesterday's heat are forecast for Manston on Monday and Tuesday.
Nowhere was spared the heat yesterday, with Langdon Bay reaching 31 degrees and the mercury in East Malling topping 34 for four hours.
But as with Manston, all of these temperature measuring stations are expected to see reduced temperatures today.
Yesterday's hottest places were Heathrow and Kew Gardens - which both recorded 36.4°C - while Exeter Airport had the lowest level at any point during the day of 10.4 degrees.
The UK temperature record for an August day is 38.5, set at Faversham on August 10 2003.
This could be toppled as Britain continues to be in the middle of a mini heatwave.
Hot weather is expected to last until the middle of the week, with resultant thunderstorms anticipated - the Met Office has issued amber thunderstorm warnings for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
