A kitesurfer was left clinging to rocks before being rescued by lifeboat crews.
The man got into difficulties while boarding in the sea off Ramsgate yesterday evening.
Ramsgate RNLI's inshore lifeboat launched at around 6.30pm after reports the man was in trouble at the western end of the south breakwater in the harbour.
When the lifeboat arrived the boarder had clambered up on to rocks and a crew member was put ashore to check him over.
A spokesman for Ramsgate RNLI said: "He was fine however he had lost his kite board. The crew searched the area but was unable to find the board and eventually had to return to station."
The incident follows a busy week for lifeguards and lifeboat crews in Thanet as temperatures soared past 30C at the weekend.
On Wednesday, a lifeguard carried out two rescues within minutes of each other when a swimmer was caught in a rip current and two surfers collided at Joss Bay in Broadstairs.
Two children went missing on Saturday afternoon on Margate beach sparking a rescue operation.
