IT'S CHRISTMAS!
Now, to make that statement really ring out you have to belt it out like Noddy Holder in Slade’s fantastic Merry Xmas Everybody.
It is one of the best ever festive songs – and there are many other contenders like Wham, Wizzard, John and Yoko, Band Aid, The Pretenders, Chris Rea, Mud and on and on and on until you get to dear old Bing Crosby, who is still dreaming of a White Christmas.
Mind you, the weather forecasters say there’s a very good chance there will be snow on December 25 this year as the Arctic weather is set to return, so I hope Santa remembers to bring me a new set of thermals!
Hasn’t the festive season arrived in a rush? I have been so busy these past few weeks, switching on Christmas lights, opening fairs, judging competitions, helping charity and community groups – it never stops.
I enjoy being on the radio during Christmas, and this year on the big day you can find me in my usual spot, covered in tinsel I expect, behind the mic on December 25 from 7am to 10am, keeping you entertained as you open the presents and start working on the festive lunch.
I am back on air again on December 27 and 28 in the usual slot and then I am taking a well earned break for New Year.
So, merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year from me and all the team who have worked on the show in the past year.
And by the way, in case you are wondering – my favourite festive song is Greg Lake’s utterly brilliant I Believe In Father Christmas. And I do!
