Pioneering British dance act Leftfield have announced a DJ set at Dreamland next year.
Headed up by Neil Barnes they are well known for their influence in the evolution of electronic dance music, emerging in 1990 with Not Forgotten a song that established a template for a new strain of British House music.
Released in January 1995, their debut album ‘Leftism’ remains one of the defining statements of dance music, a gloriously inter-woven bombardment of musical styles and immaculate grooves, nominated for a Mercury prize and later voted in the top ten greatest albums of all time by readers of Q Magazines.
Having collaborated with a number of artists such as Toni Halliday and Johnny Rotten as guest vocalists on their works, Leftfield were once described by Mixmag as "the single most influential production team working in British dance music."
With three successful studio albums, Leftfield have played some of the UK’s biggest shows, headlining both Creamfields and Rockness festivals in 2010. Some of Leftfield’s most well loved songs feature in blockbuster films such as Tomb Raider, Vanilla Sky, The Beach and Trainspotting.
Supporting Leftfield on the evening is Gerald Simpson better known as A Guy Called Gerald, a British DJ, Producer and Musician known for his huge hit Voodoo Ray which influenced the Manchester acid house scene in the 1980s.
2019 marks his 30th anniversary tour, cementing his reputation as a key figure on the electronic music underground circuit.
Tom Ranger, music programmer at Dreamland Margate, said: “2019 is going to be a big year for music acts at Dreamland, and we’re really excited to have Leftfield along to perform for the dance and electronic music lovers.”
