Murder charge as Ramsgate man Thomas Holford in court accused of killing baby girl Everleigh Stroud

A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a baby girl who died more than a year after sustaining injuries when just weeks old.

Thomas Holford was arrested on suspicion of assault after police were called to a house in Wallwood Road, Ramsgate on April 21, 2021.

One-month-old Everleigh Stroud was taken to hospital and continued to receive treatment until her death at St Thomas’ in London on May 27, 2022, aged 14 months.

Detectives have been carrying out enquiries into the circumstances in which she sustained her injuries.

Last night, following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Holford, who was known to Everleigh, was charged with murder.

The 24-year-old, of Pedlars Close, Danbury, Essex, appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court this morning and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court tomorrow.

An inquest into Everleigh’s death was opened at County Hall in Maidstone on June 13, 2022, but a full hearing has yet to take place.
