Margate: Police appealing for witnesses after reports of an assault in Dane Park

A man in his 30s has been left with serious injuries to his face after being attacked as he sat in a car.

The victim had to go to hospital for treatment after being assaulted in Dane Park, Margate on Monday.

Police are now appealing for witnesses for the incident, which happened between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.

The man was said to have been sitting in the front seat of a blue Vauxhall Zafira car when he was assaulted by another man.

The suspect is described as white, of stocky build and with short dark hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts, and carrying a black rucksack.

A 28-year-old Margate man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, and released while the investigation continues.

A number of people are believed to have been in the park area at the time.
