Richard McAuley, 23, of Northdown Road, Cliftonville, has now been charged on suspicion of murder.

He has also been charged with assaulting a woman during the incident. She was not seriously injured.

Mr McAuley will appear before Medway magistrates on Monday 14 October.

Police were initially called to reports a man had been seriously injured with a broken bottle.

Mr Miles was pronounced dead at the scene.

A neighbour told KentOnline that he heard "blood-curdling screams" coming from the flat, where a woman is reported to have been present.

Dogs were used by officers combing the area for evidence, and forensic teams also descended on the property.
