Man robbed at bus stop

Police are asking for help from members of the public after a man with learning difficulties had a necklace stolen as he waited for a bus in Margate.

Between 12:30pm and 1:15pm on Saturday the victim was standing at a bus stop in Cecil Square when a man began to speak to him in a foreign language which he could not understand.

The offender then grabbed a chain and pendant from the victim’s neck before running off in the direction of Queen Street.

Kent Police Sergeant Justine Kemp said: “This theft happened at a busy time and there were a number of other people waiting at the bus stop who may have witnessed the incident.

“This has caused the victim considerable distress and we would urge anyone with any information to contact us.”

The offender was described as being white, aged in his 40s and 5ft 6in tall. He had grey hair and was wearing a blue t-shirt and light brown jeans.
