A man has been taken to hospital after being attacked by a thug armed with a baseball bat.

The assault happened in Marine Drive, Margate, and involved two men.

Police say the pair had briefly spoken to each other before one of them reportedly battered the other man with a baseball bat, causing a head injury for which the victim needed hospital treatment.

The shocking incident took place at about 7am on Thursday, December 23, near Margate Main Sands.

The suspect is described as white, aged about 50, about 5ft 7 and of slim build. He is believed to have been wearing a cap at the time.

An investigation into the assault is ongoing and detectives are appealing to anyone who saw the incident, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage which may assist, to contact police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/263480/21.
