A man has been jailed for five years for savagely biting his victim's ear during an argument.
Boozed up Sidney Lever, 21, lost his temper after the bust-up outside The Royal pub in Ramsgate in November 2014.
After knocking victim Luke McLaughlin to the ground, Lever got on top of him and said: "You are going to like this" before leaving his ear "all but bitten off".
Lever, of Duncan Road, Ramsgate was found guilty by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court of causing grievous bodily harm on victim Luke McLaughlin.
The court heard how the victim was with friends when they became aware of a scuffle behind them as they left the pub.
They realised that one of their friends had become involved in the fracas and he and pal Willie Mweta went to help.
The jury heard how Mr McLaughlin was grabbed from behind and forced to the ground as Lever attacked him.
Lever then ran away but was caught by police as the victim "who had his ear all but bitten off" was treated by medics, the prosecution revealed.
Judge Adele Williams told him: “You had consumed a large quantity of alcohol – as indeed had others.
“There is a great deal of positive information that has been advanced on your behalf.
“You have overcome difficulties and you are in employment and your references speak good thing about you.
“But on this occasion you behaved in a way that was wholly unacceptable and you left your victim with an injury which needed reconstructive surgery.”
