A Margate man caught with indecent images of children on his computer while on licence following a previous conviction has been sent back to jail.
Rafael Ahmed, 26, of Addiscombe Gardens, has been sentenced to 34 months after officers found more images on his computer, Canterbury Crown Court heard on Wednesday.
Ahmed was originally jailed for 16 months in 2013 for possessing indecent images.
Officers from the Kent Police child exploitation investigation team carried out a warrant at his address after they received information that he was downloading indecent material.
He pleaded guilty to making and possessing indecent images of children and possession with intent to share indecent images of children. He has been placed on the sex offenders' register and made the subject of a sex offenders’ prevention order.
Ahmed was released on licence in April 2014 and in July the same year police again received information that he was downloading indecent images.
Another warrant was carried out and officers seized his computer where they found more images. While on bail officers received further information that downloading of indecent images was taking place.
Another warrant was carried out and officers seized another computer. He was subsequently charged in October 2014 with seven counts of making indecent images of children, possession of indecent images of children and breaching his sex offenders’ prevention order.
Ahmed pleaded guilty in December 2014.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Gary Watson said: "Ahmed showed a total disregard for the law by continuing to offend, despite already serving a prison sentence for similar offences.
"Safeguarding children is a priority and Kent Police will work tirelessly to bring those willing to offend to justice. This sentence demonstrates our resolve and that of the court to protect those most vulnerable in society."
