Westgate-on-Sea: Huge community effort to find missing kitten Teddy

13:27, 23 February 2018

Four hundred posters, 250 door knocks and a growing Facebook group - that's just part of the huge community effort being made in one town in the search for missing kitten Teddy.

Owner Catherine Whitehead has drummed up a great backing from neighbours and well-wishers to find the feline, who has been missing for more than a month.

The ginger tom went missing from Beach Road, Westgate-on-Sea, in January and there have been several sightings of him since - particularly in the Westbrook area.

Catherine says she is desperate to get him home and is appealing for people to check their gardens and sheds, and get in contact with any sightings.

She said: "We have knocked on more than 250 doors and spoken to so many people.

"The community effort is amazing and I have met so many people who have been willing to help.

"People have been taking the time to go out and look for him - everyone in the area is talking about Teddy.

"So many people have got involved and are concerned and I'd like to thank them all for their help.

"I am very grateful to Carolyn Neilson who has been helping me loads and set up our Facebook page.

"We've put posters on every lamp-post and people have been very kind with putting them in windows.

"I am desperate to get him home - he is such a lovely cat and he has as real innocence about him."

Teddy is chipped and neutered and Catherine says his sister Toffee keeps looking for him so they can curl up together.

Catherine adopted him last August from TAG pet rescue when he was just three months old.
