One half of a singing duo who entertained audiences with a song about Margate has died.
Chas Hodges, part of Chas and Dave, died this morning at the age of 74 after suffering from organ failure.
Though their 1982 single 'Margate' only reached number 46 in the UK Charts, the song has been a favourite among fans for decades.
A statement on Chas and Dave's Twitter page says: "It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our very own Chas Hodges.
"Despite receiving successful treatment for oesophageal cancer recently, Chas suffered organ failure and passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning."
Chas performed a number of times in Kent, including at Dreamland in 2015.
