Margate's Turner Contemporary is one of 2011’s architectural highlights, according to a national newspaper.
Critics at the Guardian say the opening of the £17.5 million art gallery is one of the five most eagerly anticipated events of the year.
Designed by award-winning architect Sir David Chipperfield, the seafront gallery will open its doors on Saturday, April 16.
The opening exhibition will feature a painting by JMW Turner, who spent much of his life in Margate and after whom the gallery is named.
Also on the Guardian’s list is the topping out ceremony at the Freedom Tower, New York – a 1,770ft steel and glass structure under construction at the site of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in September 2001.
A second project by Sir David – The Hepworth Wakefield art gallery in Yorkshire – is also included.
