Passenger in death crash is named

A WOMAN who died in a car crash at Brooksend Hill at Birchington has been formally identified as 20-year-old Lauren Jones who liveat Crescent Road, Ramsgate.
Police inquiries are continuing into the accident which happened shortly after 10.30pm on Monday, July 19, when a Vauxhall Cavalier travelling towards Birchington left the dual carriageway near Seamark Road, crashed through the central reservation and hit a Seat car heading towards St Nicholas.
The dead woman was a front seat passenger in the Cavalier. A man in the rear seat is being treated at the Queen Mother hospital, Margate, for serious leg injuries.
The passengers in the Seat were treated for minor injuries and shock.
Police are still trying to trace the driver of the Cavalier and a routine crash inspection of the vehicle is being carried out.
Tonight, from 10pm, police will be stopping and questioning motorists in the area to see if they can recall any information to help with their investigation.
An inquest into the death of Miss Jones has been opened and a post mortem examination has been carried out. A full inquest is planned.
