Broadstairs pensioner dies after crash in Northwood Road involving Nissan Micra, Honda Civic and Audi Q5

A pensioner has died after a three-car crash in Broadstairs.

The 86-year-old, who was from the town, was fighting for her life in hospital after the crash on Saturday afternoon.

The woman - who has today been named as dedicated volunteer Marie Hepburn - was driving a blue Nissan Micra when it was involved in a collision with two other cars.

She was taken to hospital in London but died from her injuries yesterday, police confirmed this morning.

The crash involved the Micra, a silver Honda Civic and black Audi Q5 at the junction of The Silvers and Northwood Road at about 3.30pm.

A 42-year-old man, from Broadstairs, who was driving the Honda was arrested at the scene initially on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was later released while inquiries continue and remains under investigation.

Police are continuing to appeal for information and dashcam footage from witnesses who might have seen the vehicles before the crash.
