Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre is to feature in tonight's episode of BBC's Celebrity Antiques Road Trip after filming in Ramsgate during summer.

It will see Mr Andre and showbiz pal Joe Pasquale go head-to-head, putting their knowledge and bartering skills to the test as they set out in classic vintage cars to find antique bargains, before selling them at auction.

The pair also visit Faversham, Whitstable, Canterbury and Sittingbourne in the episode.

And while no-one gets an ice-cream, Joe is treated to some whelks while Peter rides on the oldest rollercoaster in Britain.

Joe persuades expert Catherine Southon to buy a pommel horse emblazoned with the name of its former owner - HMP Broadmoor - while Paul Laidlaw impresses his celebrity sidekick Peter with a pressed poppy from the battlefields of World War One.

Joe’s expensive set of old boules may spell ‘petanque’ but it’s all Greek to Peter, who channels his sunny nature and inner Zorba and leads the others in a spot of impromptu dancing.

Back in July, the Mr Andre was spotted filming in Ramsgate along the seafront, as well as by the boating pool and Military Road arches.

One fan, Bob Keehner, was lucky enough to get close to the pop star in a chance encounter.

He snapped the star and film crews along the seafront, while a camera man took a shot of Mr Keehner alongside the television star.

Speaking at the time, Mr Keehner of Napleton Road, said: “During a lapse in filming I crept over and said ‘Hello Pete’ and he replied ‘Hi’ and put his hand out.

“I could feel the crew wanted to finish the shoot.

“We shook hands and I told him ‘Sorry for intruding but I could not resist as my wife Claire loves you so much’.

“He grinned and simply said ‘No worries, it’s when people don’t bother any more that I’ve got a problem’.

“A class response from a class guy I thought. Down to earth and found time for me even though he was working.”

On hand to help are the show’s regular antique experts, each paired with one of the celebrities, to provide guidance on the world of antiques.

The episode, which is the sixth in series, airs tonight on BBC2 at 7pm.
