Pictures have revealed the damage caused to a grade II-listed pub after it was smashed into by a lorry.

The crash has left the Honeysuckle Inn in Ramsgate unstable, just before pubs welcome back visitors to beer gardens tomorrow.

It is also understood the pub was recently taken over by new owners after the previous landlords announced they were leaving this year.

Honeysuckle Road will be shut for up to two weeks and a safety zone around the building is being put in place by Kent County Council.

Pictures show cracks in the brickwork at the side of the pub with rubble on the floor and safety barriers surrounding the wreckage.

It is understood a lorry tried to navigate down the narrow lane before striking the quaint boozer, despite signs which state it is unsuitable for HGVs.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Hereson Road and Dumpton Park Drive, which could be until April 22.

KCC says the closure is necessary to create a safety zone around the unstable building.

There will be a diversion via Hereson Road, Thanet Road and Dumpton Park Drive.
