Authorities have slammed plans for an illegal beach rave in Kent tomorrow.

Facebook posts have been shared suggesting an unlawful party will take place in Botany Bay, Broadstairs, tomorrow night.

One post reads: "Big fire on the beach invite and bring whoever! Word has it a London crew are coming down to set up a rave on the same night and spot.

"The rave will probably start about 10ish, if the rave doesn't happen there will still be a big fire, music and a gazebo!

"Bring camping chairs and torches if you have them. Also if anyone can bring extra firewood, please do."

Shown to Thanet District Council, the authority has reported the planned event to the police.

This revelation comes despite Kent Police having issued a general warning against such gatherings, noting "it remains illegal to socialise in groups of more than six people outside of your own household, with those who do meet still advised to stay two metres apart."

"Kent Police officers are now taking the opportunity to remind anyone planning to organise an unlicensed music event this summer that they risk committing a number of criminal offences at a time when the coronavirus still poses a serious risk to public health.

"They also risk having their speakers, lights, sound decks and any other equipment used to set up the event seized in certain circumstances."

A nearby homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "Residents are sick to the back teeth with the increase in anti-social behaviour this year since lockdown ended.

"From visitors defecating in residents gardens or stripping naked in people's front gardens to get into beach wear, to a family thinking it's acceptable to picnic in a shielded neighbour's front lawn...the list of disgusting behaviour these last few weeks is endless."
