Music will reverberate around Margate old town piazza and the harbour as part of this year’s Thanet Pride festival.
Stage entertainment lined up for the event on Saturday, July 24, includes the Pride Icons Show, a tribute to some of the world’s best loved entertainers.
Stars who come under the spotlight in this show include Lady Ga Ga, Freddie Mercury, ABBA, Karen Carpenter and George Michael. Also appearing are top drag performer Drag With No Name, Kitty Monroe and London band Moon Shot.
Organisers for the 2010 event say the seafront will “become a huge rainbow of colourful flags, dazzling costumes and a myriad of music and laughter.”
They aim to “paint the town pink” and believe that visitors from across Britain and Europe will again attract around 15,000 to Kent’s only lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transexual event.
The fourth annual celebration is billed as a free fun family event and it will also feature stalls and a funfair.
